Planned tactical exercises on extinguishing of deadwood fire near the Smolensk NPP were held on May 6 at the Smolensk NPP. It was attended by personnel of the first fire and rescue brigade for the protection of the nuclear power plant and by forest fire team of the department for the repair of buildings of the Smolensk NPP.

Fire brigades in three tankers and forest fire team of the Smolensk NPP on special vehicles successfully coped with the task of tactical exercises - kept front of conditional fire not allowing it to extend on the territory of themSmolensk NPP.

As commented the Chief Inspector of the department for fire prevention 1FRB Maxim Fedorov, such exercises are held regularly, their goal is to develop skills for extinguishing of fires and harmonious interaction between fire protection brigade and structural units of the Smolensk NPP.
- All of our joint exercises pass "excellently", and today was not an exception. Firemen demonstrated a high degree of preparedness to deal with fires, - he stressed.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The SNPP annually issues on the average about 20 billion kilowatts hours of the electric power into country power supply system, that constitutes about 13% of the energy, developed in «Rosenergoatom Concern», and more than 80% of the Smolensk region energy, developed by the power entities.
