ALL IN ALL, THE 11 OPERATING NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN RUSSIA RUN 38 POWER BLOCKS ALONG WITH THE AKADEMIK LOMONOSOV POWER BARGE. THE TOTAL DESIGNATED CAPACITY OF ALL POWER BLOCKS IS AROUND 30.3 GW:

  • 21 power blocks with reactors of VVER type (3 VVER-1200 power blocks, 13 VVER-1000 power blocks and 5 VVER-440 power blocks of different modifications);
  • 13 power blocks with channel reactors (10 blocks with RMBK-1000 reactors and 3 blocks with EGP-6 reactors);
  • 2 power blocks with fast neutron reactor with sodium cooling (BN-600 and BN-800).
  • 2 power barge reactors KLT-40S with the electric capacity of 35 MW each.

NPPs account for around 19% of all electric power output in Russia. The share of the nuclear power in the European part of the country is 30%, and it gets as high as 37% in the North-Western region.
