The Smolensk NPP held a regular emergency training on May 27, 2015 in village Worge in Ershichskiy area, where a closed control point for controlling the power plant in case of an emergency is located. The training was headed by the Director of the Smolensk NPP Andrey Petrov. Along with specialists from the nuclear power plant the training was attended by the head of the district administration Vladimir Stone, specialists from the Administration.

Means of responding to emergency situations at the Smolensk NPP were involved in the event: mobile control center, mobile communication center, laboratory of radiation survey. The purpose of the training: execution of interaction between the participants, checking the readiness and ability of personnel of the Smolensk NPP to operate in a contingency situation.

Summing up the results of the event, the director Andrei Petrov said that goals raised during the training have been achieved. The Head of the Ershichsky administration also appreciated the results of the training.

Such events are regularly held at all Russian nuclear power plants in a planned manner in order to develop actions of management and staff in an emergency situation, check the readiness of personnel and equipment to deal with its consequences as well as improving operational cooperation and exchange of information among all participants.

After the event participants visited the Tumulus of memory of Vorginskih guerrillas and memorial of soldiers, who died during the Great Patriotic War. They laid flowers to the monument.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The SNPP annually issues on the average about 20 billion kilowatts hours of the electric power into country power supply system, that constitutes about 13% of the energy, developed in «Rosenergoatom Concern», and more than 80% of the Smolensk region energy, developed by the power entities.
