On January 29, 2011, within the framework of Spartakiad for the enterprise employees, Smolensk NPP held skiing race competition. Among those who took part in the competition there were more than 200 sportsmen from 30 departments and divisions of the nuclear power plant. Struggling for the victory in this winter sport the men were to cover a 5 km distance, women – 3 km.

As a result, the first places in men’s individual championship (different age groups) were occupied by Yevgeny Fyedorov (reactor department), Oleg Titov (radiation safety department), Vladimir Fyedorov  (production and technical department).

Among women Yelena Perekhodkina (metrology department), Tatyana Gostkova (radioactive waste handling department) and Galina Berkova (centralized repair department) were the first in their age groups.

Every year Smolensk NPP holds Spartakiad in 18 kinds of sport. Over three thousand enterprise employees traditionally take part in the event.

Smolensk NPP administration pays much attention to development of sport and healthy lifestyle of Smolensk nuclear scientists and their families. There are free classes and hobby groups in rehabilitation and health and leisure centre of Smolensk NPP with up-to-date sports equipment.
