The Smolensk NPP is ready for autumn-winter period. Such a conclusion is made on the audit of a committee, which was held at the plant from 12 to 16 October.

"The Smolensk NPP conducted qualitative preparatory activities to ensure reliable operation at low temperatures, - said Chairman of the commission, the Chief Expert of the Department for safety and control of production at the "Rosenergoatom Concern" Eugene Shvetsov. The commission also includes representatives of the System Operator of the Unified Energy System, the State Energy Supervision of the Smolensk region and the Kalininskaya NPP.

During the week, the experts evaluated the readiness of equipment for the autumn-winter period, the documentation was analyzed and evaluated by trained staff. In addition, the commission reviewed the organization and conduction of general emergency training of operating personnel for actions in heavy frost. The commission found that all the conditions are fulfilled and considered it possible to issue a certificate for the Smolensk NPP about readiness for the autumn-winter period of 2015-2016 years.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The SNPP annually issues on the average about 20 billion kilowatts hours of the electric power into country power supply system, that constitutes about 13% of the energy, developed in «Rosenergoatom Concern», and more than 80% of the Smolensk region energy, developed by the power entities.
