An innovative NPP-2006 power generation unit has been physically launched at the Novovoronezh NPP
Core fueling into the VVER-1200 has been started as a part of the physical innovative power generation unit No.6 (No. 1 LM NPP-2) start-up program at the Novovoronezh NPP. The power plant staff has embarked on the works as set forth in the nuclear power plant operation license issued by the Rostechnadzor.

Rosenergoatom received decisions of RTN to terminate the license for operation of power units №1 and №2 of Novovoronezh NPP
The JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" - the operating organization (operator) of Russian nuclear power plants - received the decision of the Rostekhnadzor (RTN) on termination from October 12, 2015 (due to the lack of industrial necessity) of the licenses for operation of the power units №1 and №2 of the Novovoronezh NPP

The first unit of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was launched on Sept 30 1964.

Novovoronezh NPP is one of the first nuclear power plants in Russia.
A total of five WWER (water-water) reactors have been built at Novovoronezh NPP since its launch.

The reactors were the prototype of serial WWER-400 and WWER-1000.

It should be noted that the main technological and construction solutions for WWER have been tested at Novovoronezh NPP. They have proved their efficiency and even today after so many years (of course, after modernization) they are operating safely.

Novovoronezh NPP has a big experience in the field of environment protection and control. In the last 43 years the nearby area has been under constant radiation control with no negative effects reported so far, which proves that WWER is a safe and efficiency reactor.

Today, Novovoronezh NPP is a stable source of electricity for Voronezh region. Since its launch the plant has generated over 411bln KWh.
