On February 28, 2011, in the Public Information Centre of Novovoronezh NPP the second round of the children competition called “Atom. Ecology. Sports. Security” was held. The competition was organized by Novovoronezh NPP PIC together with Voronezh regional department of Russian social children ecologic movement “The Green Planet”, within the framework of Rosatom State Corporation socially significant projects.

50 children from the city large families, of the age from 7 to 17, participated in the second round of the competition. Divided into teams, the children were working by sections:  “Atom”, “Ecology”, “Sports”, “Traffic Safety”, “Basics of Life Safety”, and “Life Without Drugs”. 

For example, in “Atom” section the participants were to collect a puzzle of a nuclear reactor, to answer the questions: what energy is and why it is necessary, when the first nuclear plant in the world was constructed, where NPP in Voronezh region is, and many other tasks.

The specialists of Novovoronezh NPP PIC showed the children two animated films about radiation and how an NPP works. The received knowledge helped the competition participants while completing the other tasks.

The winners were awarded Novovoronezh NPP prizes, and all the participants got memorial souvenirs. At the end of the competitions of the second round, sweet table and challenging excursions to the museum of Novovoronezh NPP and the exposition of “Peresvet”, searching party, were awaiting for the children. Moreover, the Agency of Social Marketing, Olympic reserve school No. 5, Traffic Police and the City Department of Internal Affairs, Russian Federal Service in Voronezh region on drugs control also presented them with prizes.

“We cooperate closely with Novovoronezh NPP in nuclear energy propaganda and ecologic education. I am sure that nuclear power industry is one of the most open branches from the information point of view. Last year we took part in the competition of Rosatom social projects and became one of the winners”, - Elena Pavlenko, Chairman of the Board BPO OODED “The Green Planet”, noted.
