The Rostov NPP: the power №2 has been reduced to 600 MW

Atthe power unit №2 of the Rostov NPP outage of the coolant pump occurred( RCP )№ 4 with subsequent unloading unit for staffing algorithm on May 1, 2014 at 15o'clock 22 minutes. The capacity of the power unit № 2 was reduced to 600 MW.

 

Thereare no violations of limits and conditions of safe operation of the equipment.

 

Accordingto the International Nuclear Event Scale INES this event is evaluated as"out of scale", because it is insignificant to safety.

 

Thepower unit №1 of the Rostov NPP is operating normally.

 

Theradiation background at the Rostov NPP and the adjacent territory correspondsto the normal operation of the plant and does not exceed the natural backgroundvalues.

 

TheRostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "ConcernRosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of theTsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two powerunits with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt areoperated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, thepower unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
