On November 11, 2013 the city of nuclear scientists the Novovoronezh the governor of the Voronezh region Alexey Gordeyev visited. The head of the region checked a work progress on reconstruction of city stadium in a multipurpose sports complex - object of joint financing of the government of area and «Rosatom» State corporation.

Alexey Gordeyev remained happy with speed of construction, having expressed confidence that the stadium will be handed over in time with high quality. «It is very important, - the governor, - that the multipurpose construction of such level first in the Voronezh region which cardinally changes possibility of preparation of athletes emphasized. In the summer of the next year here will pass the large-scale competitions «All-Russian Summer Rural Games». It is also in the plan of the sports Ministry and of the Agriculture Ministries. We will receive guests from all Russia. As a whole it should be noted and efforts of the city management and the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear station. Thanks to them the city changes: facades of houses and Palace of culture were updated, movie theater was reconstructed, the colour-musical fountain was built, the whole streets became covered by new sidewalks. While it is only the first stage of all necessary repairs in the city, but the main thing that it was began and there is a confidence that will proceed».

Let's remind, the reconstruction of the city stadium began in 2011. The new complex will include tribunes on 3 thousand places, a football field with an artificial covering and racetracks, the sports case with hotel on 25 places, a gym, fight and choreography halls, a track and field athletics arena with a circular running track, and also a platform for game in volleyball and basketball.

The Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on the bank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia's first nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors of case type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of station is head – a prototype of serial power reactors: the power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, the power unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, No. No. 3, 4 power units with VVER-440 reactors, the power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor. The first power unit was launched in 1964, the second – in the 1969, third – in the 1971, fourth – the 1972, fifth – 1979.

The radiation background at the station and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units and doesn't exceed natural background values, characteristic for the Central European part of Russia.
