The Novovoronezh NPP: unique exhibition of the Hungarian photographer in the framework of the Russian-Hungarian project opens in Voronezh

The exhibition of the Hungarian photographer Vince Balint "Impression. From the Danube to Chukotka." will open on July 9, 2015 at 14:00 at the Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Presentation of album with his works will take place at the same time.

The exhibition and photo album are the result of creative project of the "Rosenergoatom" and NPP "Paks" (Hungary), organized for the purpose of development of bilateral Russian-Hungarian relations in the field of information technology for safe operation of nuclear power plants.

Vincze Balint works at the nuclear power plant in Hungarian town Paks. However, the main passion of his life is photography. His lens is natural landscapes and fauna. The photographer expanded his creative horizons in 2014. In the framework of the Russian-Hungarian project, he traveled through all ten existing Russian nuclear power stations and captured their environment in all its splendor and diversity. All photographs are in the immediate vicinity - within a radius of 30-40 km - from nuclear power plants and is a clear proof that the level of environmental safety of Russian nuclear power plants fully preserves the integrity and diversity of existing natural systems. The result was a photo chronicle journey from Chukotka to Smolensk and from Lapland to Novovoronezh.

The author presented the exhibition in Russian capital - Moscow in May. The project has moved to Chernozem capital - Voronezh. Within the walls of the Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theatre exhibition will be available to wide audience. It can be found by residents and visitors who came to shows until July 25, 2015.

The exhibition is supported by the trade union organization of the Novovoronezh NPP and the Department of Culture in Voronezh region.

The Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on the bank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia's first nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors of case type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of the station can be a main one – a prototype of serial power reactors: the power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, the power unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, the No. 3, 4 power units with the VVER-440 reactors, the power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor. The first power unit was launched in 1964, the second – in 1969, third – in 1971, fourth – 1972, fifth – 1979.

There are three power units (power units No.1, 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990 respectively) in work at the moment.

Innovative power units № 6 and 7 with capacity 1200 MW have been constructed at the Novovoronezh NPP since 2007.

Updated information about radiation situation near the nuclear power plants in Russia and other objects of the nuclear industry is provided on a site www.russianatom.ru.
