The Novovoronezh NPP: power unit №5 stopped for scheduled maintenance

On July 5, 2014 the power unit №5 of the Novovoronezh NPP was stopped for scheduled maintenance (SM) and nuclear fuel reloading. Planned repair time will be 39 calendar days.

During the outage medium repair of the reactor installation with reboot its core are to be done. Overhaul and current repairs of steam generators, main circulating pumps, the average repair of the main equipment of turbine section will be performed.

Will be done: the replacement of the steam turbine of the condenser unit №13 and modernization of separation turbines.

Power units No. 3, 4 of the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant are working in the set mode now.

The Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on the bank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia's first nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors of case type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of station is head – a prototype of serial power reactors: the power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, the power unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, No. No. 3, 4 power units with VVER-440 reactors, the power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor. The first power unit was launched in 1964, the second – in the 1969, third – in the 1971, fourth – the 1972, fifth – 1979.

There are three power units (power units (No No 1, 2 we're stopped in 1984 and 1990 years respectively) on work at the moment.

Average values of a radiation background in settlements of a 30-km zone round the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant corresponded to level of natural background values, characteristic for the Central European Part of Russia.
