The Novovoronezh NPP: nuclear power plant operating normally

The fire brigade arrived at the NPP at 15:30 because of a false fire alarm, which worked on January 27, 2015 at 15:25 in the sanitary housing 3-4 of the Novovoronezh NPP. Signs of fire were not detected.

The Novovoronezh NPP is operating normally. There are no violations and deviations.

Average values of radiation background correspond to level of natural background values in the Central European Part of Russia in settlements of a 30-km zone round the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant.

The Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on the bank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia's first nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors of case type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of the station can be a main one – a prototype of serial power reactors.
