Scheduled emergency response exercises with rig of fire equipment,during which staff will work out acting skills under abnormal situation, willtake place on March 3, 2015 at the Novovoronezh NPP.

The training session will be attended by personnel of the operatingNVNPP blocks and blocks under construction, heads of departments, as well asthe Federal Fire Service on Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia and groupof operational engineering support of personnel shifts group.

The Novovoronezh NPP poet units will work normally during training.There will be no interference in their work.

Administration of the Novovoronezh NPP refers to residents ofVoronezh region and Novovoronezh city with request to keep patience andunderstanding during trainings.

Conducting of the training is an integral part of any nuclear powerplant safe operation. Their goal is to develop actions for the protection ofnuclear power plant staff and other people.

The Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is a branchof the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on thebank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia'sfirst nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors ofcase type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of thestation can be a main one – a prototype ofserial power reactors: the power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, thepower unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, the No. 3, 4 power units with theVVER-440 reactors, the power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor. The firstpower unit was launched in 1964, the second – in 1969, third – in 1971,fourth – 1972, fifth – 1979.

There are three power units (power units No.1, 2 werestopped in 1984 and 1990 respectively) in work at the moment.

Construction of two innovative power units №6 and №7 with 1200 MW capacity has been done since 2007 atthe Novovoronezh NPP.
