Leningrad NPP: more than 20 families of servicemen guarding nuclear power plant received keys to new apartments

The keys for 21 apartments (13 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom) in Sosnovy Bor new building in the modern area "Zarechye" were given by the Director of the Leningrad NPP Vladimir Pereguda to soldiers of the military unit 3705 of Russian Interior Ministry troops in a festive atmosphere with sounds of a military band. Happy new settlers are the families of the contract servicemen carrying service for protection of important public facility - the Leningrad nuclear power plant.

"The Physical Protection of the Nuclear Power Plant is one of the main components of security of nuclear facilities, - said Vladimir Pereguda. - The military always have to be on full alert and they should be happy and live with their families in normal conditions of life. "Rosenergoatom" together with the leadership of Ministry for Internal Affairs reviewed activities for improvement of conditions of service and living of soldiers. In this regard, the Company acquired a number of apartments, which have been transferred to the treasury of Russia and after that have been dispersed throughout the system of federal support. In the nearest plans - building of military camp in the area of sports-technical complex (STC) are preparing of project documents".

In turn, First Deputy Commander of the North-Western Regional Command of Russian Interior Ministry Major General Vladimir Dolganin said: "In the near future we will create home for soldiers in Sosnovy Bor. Now all efforts are aimed at creating of living conditions for soldiers, which will be fully prepared for carrying out task of ensuring reliability and safety of the LNPP".

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Sosnovy Bor in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units with electric capacity of 1000 MWt each operate at the nuclear power plant.
