The Kursk NPP has become the winner for the best conservation status and working conditions in 2014 among enterprises and organizations of the Kursk region employing 100 people or more.

The competition took into account such factors as the state of occupational injuries; organization of labor protection; implementation of measures aimed at preventing accidents and occupational diseases; financing of measures to improve working conditions and safety; staff participating in organization of labor protection and others.

High score for a safety culture at the Kursk NPP became possible thanks to a systematic approach to these issues. At the station operates OSH management system, which involves the entire staff of the company - from the director to the ordinary worker. The main purpose of the OSH management system is the preservation of life and health on the workplace. Total costs for labor protection in 2014 amounted to 321 million 852 thousand.

In 2014, there were no registered accidents involving personnel of the Kursk NPP and cases of occupational diseases. In accordance with the principle of continuous improvement in the company, the OHS management system is developing to comply with an international standard OHSAS 18001: 2007.

The Kursk NPP has power units №№ 1, 3, 4 in work at the moment. They work at capacity, established by the dispatch schedule. Power unit №2 is in overhaul planned maintenance.

The radiation background is at level, that corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed natural background values, at the Kursk NPP and in the area of its location.
