The Kursk NPP: power unit №4 stopped

On July 11, 2014 at 16 hours 49 minutes the Kursk NPP power unit №4 was stopped by automatic protection.

Reasons for automatic equipment reaction is being investigated. After the elimination of the causes that led to the shutdown of power, it will be put into operation in the prescribed manner.

This event is pre-classified zero (out of scale) on the International Nuclear Event Scale for the Assessment INES, so it is not essential for the safety of the power plant and its personnel.

There are no violations of limits and conditions of safe operation. The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

There have been power units No. 1, 2 and 4 in work since July 14 2014. They work at the capacity established by the dispatching schedule. On power units No. 3 planned repairs are carried out.
