The Kursk NPP: operation of the automatic fire alarm system didn’taffected work of units

On March 20 at 03:35 a full-time automatic fire alarm worked in one of the auxiliary facilities of the electric shop at the power unit number 3 of the Kursk NPP.

Tripping cause was a short circuit in the electrical system and smoke.

The fireplace of the smoke was eliminated.

This event didnt affected the load of the Kursk NPP power units.

Cause of the shortcircuit is being investigated.

There are power units No. No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in work at the moment on the Kursk nuclear power plant. They work at the capacity established by the dispatching schedule.

The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.
