The Kursk NPP: on September 11, scheduled maintenance of the power unit №4 began

On September 11, 2014 the power unit №4 of the Kursk NPP was disconnected from the network for scheduled maintenance.

At the power unit maintenance operations, established by the annual maintenance schedule and repair of equipment, will be performed.

Disconnecting of the power unit was made in accordance with the requirements of technological regulations and instructions.

The power units №№ 1, 2, 3 operate at the Kursk NPP. They work on capacity, established by the dispatch schedule.

The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kursk NPP as part of "Rosenergoatom" is included in the electricity division of the State Corporation "Rosatom". The station is located 40 km south-west of the city of Kursk on the left bank of the Seym. At the NPP four power units with channel RBMK-1000 reactors with a total capacity of 4 million KW are operating. Power units were connected to the unified energy system of the country in 1976, 1979, 1983 and 1985. In the 1994-2009 period all existing power units have had deep technical modernization. The Kursk NPP is the largest in the Central Russian Chernozem power generating source. Win of the Kursk NPP in installed capacity of all power plants Chernozemya exceeds 50%.
