The Kursk NPP-2: temporary bridge technology construction completed earlier

The temporary bridge technology construction, which will further allow to finish the main road bridge connecting the banks of the river Seym, completed at a construction site during the preparatory period at the Kursk NPP-2.
 
"All the work on the construction of piers and bridge spans is going to be made with this object," - said Nikolai Bobel, the Chief Engineer of the Capital Construction Directorate for the Construction of the Kursk NPP-2.

According to the project, road bridge has a length of 386 meters. The whole construction of the highway bridge consists of 13 columns stacked on the 12-span structures of reinforced concrete beams.
 
Works on the construction of the bridge are done by the contractor LLC "Transugstroy 'clock in accordance with the schedule. This will allow to complete the construction of piers till July 2015, and by the end of the year to complete the basic works on the construction of the bridge. Summer bridge builders started construction of span structures, the construction of the perimeter boundaries as well as work on the road asphalt surface and lighting of the bridge.

The new road bridge is designed to deliver building materials to the construction site of the replacement station. In addition to performing the production tasks the new facility together with roads network constructed or expanded will allow to connect directly Seym riverbanks together, which will significantly improve life in a densely populated region.

The Kursk NPP-2 will be the replacement station for the retiring Kursk NPP power units since 2021.

The scheme of the Russian Federation territorial planning in the field of energy up to 2030, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in November 2013, provides accommodation of four power units at the replacement station NPP-2 with new type VVER-TOI reactors in Kursk region.

The VVER-TOI (typical optimized and computerized VVER technology unit) meets the current domestic and international safety requirements,works longer and has greater installed capacity comparing to the existing nuclear power plant reactors.

Commissioning of the first two NPP-2 power units is planned to be synchronized with the decommissioning of reactors №1 and №2 at the operating nuclear power plant.
