Kursk NPP: the enterprise Director and the staff’s charity is awarded

Nikolay Sorokin, Deputy General Director – Director of Kursk NPP, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJCS, and the enterprise staff, are awarded a Letter of gratefulness of the organizing Committee of The World of Childhood regional charity marathon, for a considerable contribution into the marathon fund, and active participation in charity work aimed at targeted social support of the poor, large families, foster families, heavily sick children, orphans and children left without parental care, gifted children.

The awarding ceremony took place during the extended meeting of the organizing Committee of The World of Childhood regional charity marathon held in M. S. Shepkin orthodox cinema centre (Kursk city). Heads of enterprises and organizations, region inhabitants who have made the largest contribution into the marathon fund, were invited here.

The activity within the last 3 years was summarized at the meeting, and the topic of the necessity of charity traditions revival in our society which is essential for today Russia, was discussed. The film about The World of Childhood regional marathon reported about the work carried out by the organizing Committee for targeted help to sharply needy families.

“Not a single ruble received, - Valentina Mikhailova, Chairman of the organizing Committee of The World of Childhood regional charity marathon, stated in her report, - was wasted. Within the three years by means of the public and the government more than 50 M of charity resources were gathered. This benefaction helped 1600 families purchase expensive medicine for the sick children, dwelling, automobiles, clothes, stage costumes and musical instruments for the gifted, articles of daily necessity, school supplies and many other things.” 

In 2010, the World of Childhood gathered about 20 M rubles. The contribution of Kursk NPP amounts to 816 thousand rubles. Last year the atomists transferred 790 thousand to the charity fund.

At the round table the conversation went on about the importance of the traditions of charity in our society, business participation in socially important programs, and the correlation within this problem, touching upon the interests of a significant part of our population, with governmental structures. All the reporters were unanimous in the fact that there must not be suffering children. People should help each other, be united strong in spirit nation, but not “different layers of society”. For that not only money, but first of all a kind and keen heart is needed.   

A worked out regional law of charity will also help the renaissance of philanthropy traditions.
