On April 4, hundreds of Kurchatov citizens participated in the solemn rally, dedicated to the 85-th anniversary of First Chief Engineer of Kursk NPP, Deputy Director of Research, laureate of USSR State and Lenin Prize Tom Petrovich Nikolayev. His relatives, friends and comrades gathered near the Memorial Plaque and his house.

Kursk nuclear scientists gave a perfect present to the jubilee of the legendary man – they had generated 700 billion kWh of electric power. In his speech, successor of T. Nikolayev, Chief Engineer of Kursk NPP Alexander Uvakin noted: “He has also made a substantial contribution to these 700 billion kilowatt-hours of electric power generated by Kursk NPP. Respect for colleagues, the ability to encourage a talented worker and deep business knowledge is a tradition, established by Tom Petrovich, which is carefully maintained at our plant”.

In his turn, Kurchatov City Mayor Yuri Kosyrev expressed the citizens’ opinion about the legendary man: “Tom Petrovich Nikolayev represents the golden fund of Russian nuclear power industry. His ideas are being implemented today. The city square and a museum exhibition at the Public Information Centre of Kursk NPP are named after him; activities that are aimed to educate in young people love to their profession, the plant and the city they live in, are held in his honor. Life and work of Tom Petrovich Nikolayev, dedicated to the future, will always be an example for us”.

An evening party in the memory of Tom Nikolayev was held on the same day in the Public Information Centre of Kursk NPP.
