Representatives of Siberian Chemical Combine OJSC visited Bilibino NPP. The visit took place as a part of realization of the State contract negotiated by Rosatom Corporation on the topic of “Development of the Infrastructure of Bilibino NPP Power Units Nos. 1-4 Operation Excluding Power Production”.
The contract is a part of realization of Federal Target Program “Providing of Nuclear and Radiation Security for 2008 and the Period Up To 2015” events.
That was the third specialists’ working visit to the plant aimed at agreement of the programs of the engineering tasks on exploration of the engineering networks and communications and organization of engineering research to define their condition and resources within the framework of Bilibino NPP operating unit preparation excluding power production.
As a result of the joint work of heads of nuclear plant technical services and Siberian Chemical Combine OJSC specialists, conclusive corrections and changes were introduced into the program.
At present, the documents are being agreed with the general designer – Atomenergoproyekt OJSC.
Bilibino NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located next to Bilibino city, in the Chukotka Autonomous District. Bilibino NPP operates four EGP-6 uranium-graphite pressurized tube reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 12MW (el.). The first power unit was commissioned in 1973. By the end of a 30-year engineering period the works on the modernization providing the security level requested while operating had been performed.
As a result of the events held, within the period from 2003 to 2006 Bilibino NPP became the first nuclear plant to receive a Rostekhnadzor license for all the 3 power units operation prolongation. The extra 15-year period of Bilibino NPP power units operation flows out in 2019-2021.
At present, the documents on Bilibino NPP power units operation excluding power production are being prepared, and the possibility of the power units operation extra prolongation is being considered.
