On April 27, 2011, a group of members of the Council of Heads of Bilibino Municipal District municipal entities visited Bilibino NPP. Authorized Head of municipal entities of Bilibino Municipal District, Heads of Bilibino urban settlement, villages – Omolon, Anuysk, Ilirney, Ostrovnoye – were included into the working group.

An excursion, in the course of which the guests visited unit and central control rooms, central (reactor) and turbine halls, was organized for them. Deputy HR Chief Engineer– Head of education and training centre Grigory Khakhulin told them about a principal scheme of Bilibino NPP operation, the basic power units equipment and the structure of EGP-6 reactor and the territory area planning around Bilibino NPP (sanitary protection zone and control area).

During the excursion the heads of municipal entities received the answers to the questions they had been interested in and made sure that Bilibino NPP operates in a reliable and safe way.

Bilibino NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located next to Bilibino city, in the Chukotka Autonomous District. Bilibino NPP operates four EGP-6 uranium-graphite pressurized tube reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 12MW (el.). The first power unit was commissioned in 1973, the second – in 1974, the third – in 1975, and the fourth one – in 1976. The plant produces about 75% of energy generated in Chaun-Bilibino isolated electricity system (upon that the system takes about 40% of energy consumed in the Chukotka Autonomous District).
