The share of the Leningrad nuclear power plant in electricity production for St.Petersburg and Leningrad region amounted to more than 58% for 7 months of 2015

The share of the Leningrad nuclear power plant in regional volume of electricity production has amounted to 50.17% for 7 months of 2015; share in the real volume of supplies to consumers - 58.3%.

According to the operative data of branch of the "SO UES" "Regional dispatch control after power systems in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region", consumption of electricity has amounted to 25 billion 202.7 million kWh in the region for 7 months in 2015, which is on 0.2% more than corresponding figure for the same period in 2014. The Leningrad NPP (branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", Leningrad Region) released into the grid during the period 14.692 billion kWh of electricity.

Generation of electricity power into energy systems of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region has amounted to 31 billion 697.1 million kWh for 7 months in 2015, an increase of 1.3% comparing to the same period in 2014. The Leningrad NPP has generated 15 billion 901.86 million kWh of electricity over the reporting period.

Recall, that at the end of 2014 the share of nuclear power plants in the Leningrad regional electricity generation volume was 45%, ensuring consumption - 53.26%.

Currently, the Leningrad NPP has three power units (№№ 1, 2 and 4 in work), which carry the load of 2315 MW according to operations schedule (power unit №3 was stopped for scheduled maintenance from 2 August to mid-September 2015).

Since the beginning of 2015 as of morning August 6th the Leningrad NPP generated 16.18 billion kWh of electricity, accounting for 104% of the planned target (over the plan - 627.5 million kWh).

The radiation background is unchanged and corresponds to natural values on an industrial platform of the Leningrad nuclear power plant, in the city Sosnovy Bor and the surrounding territory.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Sosnovy Bor in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units with electric capacity of 1000 MWt each operate at the nuclear power plant.
