The Beloyarsk nuclear power plant: school students draw the net yard

Within coming to the end of the environmental protection Year in Russia the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant carried out among fourth-graders of Zarechny city schools (The Sverdlovsk Region) tender of the drawings «My Net Yard».

Subjects of drawings were the most different: participants represented not only the yards, but also hometown streets, and landscapes of vicinities. For example, very often Aleshchenkov Boulevard, which had been built on social assignments from the construction of the power unit No. 4 with the BN-800 reactor, appeared in plots. This boulevard became one of the most beautiful places of the city, as found reflection in creativity of young artists.

The main idea of the tender - the necessity of preserving environmental purity and conservation, prevention of pollution and territory pollution – school students realized in original forms. For example, one participant represented the russian belle in a «kokoshnik» who solemnly takes out garbage in very elegant painted garbage tank.

Respect for the environment is one of the most important areas of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant work within operating Ecological policy of the entity, and the nuclear power plant in every possible way helps distribution of ecological knowledge among school students.

The Beloyarsk nuclear power plant is entered into work in April, 1964. It is the first nuclear power plant in big nuclear power of the country, and unique with reactors of different types on one platform. The first power units of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant with reactors on thermal neutrons of AMB-100 and AMB-200 are stopped in connection with resource development. In operation there is the unique power unit in the world with the reactor on fast neutrons of an industrial power level of BN-600. In the stage of construction there is a power unit with the reactor on fast neutrons of BN-800. Power units on fast neutrons are urged to expand significantly fuel base of nuclear power and to minimize radioactive waste at the expense of the organization of the closed nuclear and fuel cycle.

Current information about a radiation situation near the nuclear power plant in Russia and other objects of the nuclear industry is provided on a site www.russianatom.ru.
