Employees of Beloyarsk NPP took part in the meeting devoted to the 70th anniversary of the War beginning.

On June 22, 2011 the Heads of Beloyarsk NPP and all its subdivisions took part in the memory meeting devoted to the Day of Memory and Grief, - the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War beginning.

After flowers had been laid to the memorial to the fall warriors, the atomists fed the meeting participants with a real soldier’s cereal cooked in the field kitchen.

The nuclear power industry was established in 1945, having become of the same age with the Great Victory. For a record short period according to historical standards former front soldiers managed not only to revive the country from the ruins, but also make a modernization breakout, having created a nuclear shield and become familiar with a new power source – nuclear electric plants. There were many people who survived the war among Beloyarsk NPP constructors and operation personnel. Their labor heroism is the guarantee of the nuclear power industry present success.

At Beloyarsk NPP they treat the people who have survived that severe war with respect, keep carefully the memory of them and render every possible help to the Great Patriotic War veterans.

Beloyarsk NPP was put into operation in April, 1964. This is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the AMB-100 and AMB-200 fast neutron reactors have been shut down and are prepared for decommissioning. Beloyarsk NPP operates the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle.

Timely information about the radiation environment near Russian NPPs and other objects of the nuclear industry is available in the site www.russianatom.ru.
