Beloyarsk NPP: the work results of May, 2011
Since April 13, 2011 Beloyarsk NPP power unit BN-600 has stopped electric power generation due to the scheduled events: fuel reloads and equipment inspection and modernization.
Totally, from January 1 to May 1, 2011 Beloyarsk NPP power unit BN-600 generated 1465.7 mln kWh of electric power, which is equal to 101.3% of the target figure.
The radiation situation in the area of Beloyarsk NPP location and in the adjacent territories corresponds to the normal operation and natural background values.
Beloyarsk NPP was put into operation in April, 1964. This is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the AMB-100 and AMB-200 fast neutron reactors have been shut down due to the resource depletion. Beloyarsk NPP operates the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle.
