Beloyarsk NPP: atomists’ children will take part in a children musical

On May 19, 2011 a final casting for "NucKids-2011" project was held in Moscow. The children of Beloyarsk NPP and Beloyarsk NPP-Service employees – Kristina Stenina, Anna Tyutina and Aleksey Fatin - took part in the final stage.

The children were to sing a modern song that had been staying in the top-ten of the charts for the last five years and if possible arrange it with a dance. About 200 “atomic” children demonstrated their acting, vocalic and dancing talents on that day. Apart from creative achievements, the challengers for the ticket to an international camp also showed their skills in speaking English. For example Aleksey Fatin whose mother and father work at Beloyarsk NPP sang a Michael Jackson’s song, dancing not worse than the famous singer.

It is necessary to note that the casting was held in the Lecture Hall of the State Tretyakov Gallery Engineer Building. After the performance the children were given an opportunity of attending the Tretyakov Gallery and watch the exposition.

According to the results of the final casting, Anna Tyutina and Aleksey Fatin were invited to the International Children Creative Camp, the initiator of which was Rosatom State Corporation. This year the project with the participation of the children from Russia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, India, Turkey and Ukraine will be held from July 11 to August 21, 2011. Staging of a musical will be the result of their cooperative creative work.

Beloyarsk NPP was put into operation in April, 1964. This is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the AMB-100 and AMB-200 fast neutron reactors have been shut down and are prepared for decommissioning. Beloyarsk NPP operates the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle.

Timely information about the radiation environment near Russian NPPs and other objects of the nuclear industry is available in the site www.russianatom.ru.
