On March 15, 2012 at the meeting of the Zarechny City Duma there was elected a Head of the urban district among deputies. It’s Vasiliy Nikolayevich Lanskih, who worked as a Head of technical inspection and industrial safety division of the Beloyarsk NPP.

On last March 4 elections to the Zarechny City Duma voters had the great confidence in the Beloyarsk NPP staff: the nuclear experts have got 11 of 20 seats in Duma.

According to the amendments adopted last year to the urban district Charter, for the first time in the history of the Zarechny district the Head of the district was elected among the City Duma deputies instead of being elected by universal suffrage by citizens.
Dmitriy Pogorelov still carries out the duties under contract of a city manager – a Head of the municipal administration.

The Beloyarsk NPP was commissioned in April 1964. It’s the first nuclear power plant of the largest nuclear power engineering of the country and the only one with different operating reactors at the same plant. The first Beloyarsk NPP power units with the thermal reactors of AMB-100 and AMB-200 have been stopped due to resource exhaustion. The power unit with BN-600 fast neutron reactor of industrial power level nowadays operates as the unique in the world. The power unit with BN-800 fast neutron reactor is under construction now. The fast neutron power units are designed to significantly expand the fuel base of the nuclear power engineering and minimize RAW by means of closed NFC management.
