The power unit №1 of the Balakovo NPP was disconnected from the network for refueling and conducting preventative repair in a period of 58 days, in accordance with the planned application resolved by the power system controller on October 18, 2015 1 hour 56 minutes.

Unloading and stopping of the unit were performed in accordance with the technological regulations for safe operation without comments. There was no worsening of the radiation situation, violation of limits and conditions of safe operation.

As part of the repair these major renovations are planned: overhaul of the reactor, steam generators 1 and 4, main circulation pumps 3 and 4 and pressurizer; replacing of drainage pipe coolers of systems of low pressure heaters №2,4; implementation of automated information measurement system for technological accounting of power, replacing of ASUT-1000 and others.

It is worth noting that it the last repair of the power unit № before the extension of its service life.

The radiation situation in the area of the Balakovo NPP is unchanged and figures correspond to the natural background radiation for the European part of Russia - 0.08-0.1 microsieverts / hr.

There are power units №2, №3 and №4 in work at the moment working at the capacity of 3100 MW.
