Communal infrastructureProjects worth 9.327mln RUR carried out

184.1985mln RUR was spent on social infrastructure development in Balakovo and Balakovo district under the Balakovo NPP project – 92.5% of the plan. Under-fulfillment is due to the economic crisis of the early 1990s. Many state projects were no longer needed because of private business development.

The special non-budgetary fund of Balakovo NPP has greatly contributed to the social-economic development of Balakovo. The money has been spent mostly on social facilities in the 30-km zone: 93.5% of 295.8mln RUR transferred to the fund in 1993-2001 was spent on Balakovo.

The following facilities have been built due to the plant’s investment fund:

  • railway station;
  • therapeutic department;
  • laundry;
  • three schools for 818 pupils in Novopolevodino, Komezhka and Krutoye villages;
  • water stadium of international class;
  • pumping and water treatment stations;
  • sewage conduit;
  • 1.8-km trolleybus route.

 The funds have been also spent on repair of schools, hospitals and houses.

The restoration of the investment funds of the Russian NPPs is the prerogative of the federal authorities. This problem may be solved as soon as the State Duma adopts the Law "On Social Protection of Citizens Living in Areas with Nuclear Power Facilities."

Balakovo NPP is successful enough to afford solving the social problems of Saratovregion and, first of all, Balakovo district.

The company is a big tax payer. Its tax payments ensure 20% of the local budget’s revenues.

The plant plays a significant role in the cultural and sport life of Balakovo and Saratovregion. The sports and recreation complex of Balakovo NPP has long become the sports center of the city.

The plant’s sportsmen have succeeded at many regional and federal contests: the plant’s women’s volleyball team has won two bronze medals of Russia’s Super League and successfully plays in the European Confederation Cup.

The plant’s children’s recreation camp is one of the best in the region.

The plant’s PublicInformationCenteris one of the sights of Balakovo.

Balakovo NPP is not only light in our houses and working machines at our plants but it also a shining sun that warms people around.
