The Balakovo NPP: power unit №2 stopped for scheduled overhaul

Power unit №2 of the Balakovo NPP was disconnected from the network for refueling and conducting of preventative overhaul on a period of 95 days on July 14, 2015, at 01:58 in accordance with the planned application and by a permission of power system controller.

Unloading and stopping of the power unit was held in accordance with the technological regulations of safe operation without comments. There were no worsening of radiation situation, violation of limits and conditions of safe operations.

These replacements are planned: generator stator, racking of SNF storage pool (spent nuclear fuel), turbine condenser and a number of works on modernization of automatic equipment and process systems. All works will be carried out within the framework of program on extending service life of power units.

There are power units №№ 1, 3 and 4 with a total load of 3,100 MW in work at the moment at the Balakovo NPP.

The radiation situation in the area of Balakovo NPP remains unchanged, the indicators correspond to the natural background radiation (natural) years of background values characteristic of the European part of Russia.
