Department of Information and Public Relations of the Balakovo NPP together with the central intersettlement library of Balakovo municipal district (BMD) held a competition of readers devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It was attended by more than 70 residents from 7 to 74 years.

The jury, which evaluated the mastery of "war" poems, was entered by poets known in the city, members of the Union of Journalists of Russia, representatives of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Balakovo NPP, Central Library and Education Committee Administration in BMD. Chairman of the jury, head of the interaction with the authorities and the public Natalia Bondarenko said: "Our competition is held in the year that marks several anniversaries - the 70th anniversary of the Victory and the nuclear industry, the 30th anniversary of the launch of the first unit of the Balakovo nuclear power plant. It is encouraging that the students and the older generation so actively responded to our call and came to this hall today. Each participant was so sincere and patriotic telling the story of the war, the audience listened spellbound lines from the poems! It costs a lot!"  "I liked all the performances - shared the poet-writer, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, the participant of operation for Elimination of the Chernobyl disaster Igor Karavaev. - Not everyone can convey heartfelt feelings, human suffering in times of war, the real depth of the poem. Today, the contestants have succeeded really well".

The winner of the youngest subgroup is Diana Danilova (Gymnasium №1), in the middle group - Sophia Kosovo (school № 26) and Irina Kostina (Children's art school № 4), in the older group - Catherine Rogozhina (school № 26) and in the subgroup "The older generation" - Lubov Oblomova (school №21). The most vivid and interesting speeches were also marked with special diplomas. Awarding of the contest winners will take place on May 22 in the center of the culture "Antares" of the Trade Union of the Balakovo NPP (7th micro district).
