Public Council session of Balakovo Municipal District was held at the Public Information Centre of Balakovo NPP. Public Council discussed the issue of preparation and holding of events dated to the 25th anniversary the Chernobyl NPP tragedy.

Deputy Head of Administration of Balakovo Municipal District for social issues Vladimir Gusakov said, that the preparation had been carried out since last year - Social Policy Department specified the lists of the Chernobyl NPP disaster fighters, victims of other radiation accidents; complex medical examinations of 234 disaster fighter were carried out; 48 disaster fighters have passed rehabilitation.

There are special lessons at the education establishments devoted to Chernobyl tragedy, competitions and reviews. Book exhibitions and meetings with disaster fighters are organized in the libraries, thematic documentary films are shown in the cinemas. Traditionally, on April 26, there will be held memorial service at the Obelisk to commemorate the victim in radiation accidents on the Heroes Prospectus.
