A partnership seminar on “Automation of the Process of Recording, Control and Use of Information on NPP Operation Disturbances on Basis of the Information System “Logging of the Plant’s Events” finished yesterday at Balakovo NPP.
Representatives of the Operational Experience Use and Disturbance Investigation Departments of seven nuclear power plants of Russia - Kalinin, Kola, Kursk, Leningrad and Leningrad II, Novovoronezh, Rostov and Smolensk - arrived to Balakovo NPP for the participation in the five-day meeting.

“This is already the second similar seminar,” says Dmitry Levin, Chief Technologist of the Safety Monitoring and Production Department of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. “The first seminar, which was focused on sharing of good utility practices accumulated at each nuclear power plant on a given topic, was held a month ago at Kola NPP. I should add that nuclear power plants themselves choose the topic of the seminar held at their site. That is why representatives of various NPP divisions may become its members. This direction has just started developing, but we already make a plan for the next year, which will include at least four such seminars.” 

The Operational Experience Use and Disturbance Investigation Department specialists (Balakovo NPP) presented three reports to the claimed subject matter, which aroused the keen interest of colleagues, and handed to the seminar participants a set of documents for the implementation of good utility practices in the following areas: “Logging of the Plant’s Events”, “Logging of Low Level Events” and documents on the implementation and use of operation experience.

During the visit, the guests visited all four power units of the plant and the Public Information Centre.

According to the opinion of the participants, the seminar format allows the hosting plant to go into the work topic at large, and gives the guests enough time to ask questions and discuss the work of colleagues. Next similar meeting will be held in a month at Rostov NPP.
