The socio-environmental action "Cleanliness begins with you" was held on April 28, 2015 in Balakovo (Saratov region). It took place immediately after the eve of the traditional Saturday work day of the Balakovo NPP employees and was timed to the All-Russian Ecological Saturday work day "Green Spring 2015".
 
It was organized by the nuclear power plant together with the Board of Education of BMR Administration and the Center for additional education of children in Balakovo.

"This year marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the first Balakovo NPP power unit. In this regard there is a range of celebrations. One of them is the Action "Cleanliness begins with you" - said the leading specialist of the Information Center of the Balakovo NPP Irina Sedikova.- Also this action has been dedicated to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We want to attract Balakovo pupils to cleaning their hometown, to make it cleaner and more beautiful. And we also want to arrange the festival of good mood for the youth".

The participants of the action were volunteer units - 230 students from 7-11 grades from 9 Balakovo schools. All of them gathered in the square outside Trnavskaya street. After the opening ceremony and a big flash mob students went to clear the area of the square. The Balakovo NPP has provided participants with everything necessary for Saturday work day.

Within an hour, the youth gathered more than 40 cubic meters of garbage. After the cleaning was completed, the awarding ceremony took place. Pupils from the Lyceum №1 became the most active volunteer groups, secondary school №22 group became the most creative, the most friendly - secondary school №18 group, the most active - secondary school №15 group, the most positive - high school №2 group, the most executive - school № 27 group, the most hardworking - secondary school №16 group, the most responsible - secondary school №28 group. Finally, the owners of the Grand Prix were the pupils from the volunteer group of the secondary school №7.

At the end of the action the Deputy of the Council of Balakovo district №21 Dmitry Shevchenko thanked children for active participation in cleanliness of their hometown on the eve of a big anniversary for our country.

All participants received gifts from the Balakovo NPP - T-shirts with symbols of the nuclear power plant and tasty treats.
