Atomflot Specialists Visit Balakovo NPP

From July 17 to 19, 2012 Balakovo NPP was visited by the delegation of specialists of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Atomflot.

The purpose of the visit was sharing of experience in the implementation of Rosatom Production System, which has successfully been developed at the plant since 2009.

Atomflot started implementing RPS relatively recently – since last year autumn. The guests from Murmansk conversed with experts of repair services, thermal instrumentation and control shop, electrical shop, as well as visited the turbine house of Unit 2, which is currently under the scheduled outage.

Following the visit, Deputy Head of Shiprepairing Production of Atomflot, Sergey Turkin, noted: “The general opinion is positive. I was amazed of how deep the philosophy and principles of RPS were introduced at Balakovo NPP literally at all stages of the production process. We can see that in this area new ideas are always generated, and continuous work on improvement is carried out. And, of course, what we have a lack of is a clear detailed planning and monitoring of the scheduled works. All this, based on the experience of Balakovo NPP professionals, we will try to develop and improve at our enterprise.”

Rosatom Production System (RPS)  is a methodically integral field complex of interrelated production processes, where actions, which do not create a value, are minimized as a result of successive improvements by applying principles, rules, tools and methods.

RPS is introduced at Rosatom enterprises for the efficient production control. It is a successor of the scientific organization of labour, production and management (NOTPiU) and developments of the Ministry of Medium Machine-Building Industry, thanks to which the industry managed to achieve the exponential growth of productivity of labour.

The State Corporation Rosatom is Russia’s enterprise number 1, which successfully implements lean technologies at the level of the field complex.
