The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant: loading of the power unit No. 3 is recovered to nominal

Loading of the power unit No. 3 of the Kalininskaya nuclear power plant recovered to nominal and constitutes 1000 MWt on December 18.

Decrease in loading of the power unit No. 3 to 400 MWt happened on December 17 because of the false signal forming on shutdown of the turbopitatelny pump (TPN) that led to operation of the accelerated precautionary protection.

There are four power units of the Kalininskaya nuclear power plant in work. Their total loading constitutes 4187 MWt.

The radiation background around an arrangement of the nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.

Current information about a radiation situation near the nuclear power plant in Russia and other objects of the nuclear industry is provided on a site www.russianatom.ru.
