The Kalininskaya NPP: training of practical skills in emergency situations successfully held

Fire general training took place on January 20 at the Kalininskaya NPP, which was conducted in accordance with the plan of the main activities of the Main Emergency Department in Russia in the Tver region and the Kalininskaya nuclear power plant.

The main purpose of the exercise was practicing of operational readiness of the NPP personnel and the personnel of the fire service to operate in conditions of accidents beyond design basis and emergencies.

Assessing the outcome of the exercise, acting Chief Engineer of the Kalininskaya NPP A.P. Rumyantsev said, that the goals, that were set before the participants of training, were achieved. Actions for practicing of joint action of agencies in emergency situations successfully worked out.

There are all four power units in work at the Kalininskaya NPP at the moment. The radiation background corresponds to level of normal operation of power units, which doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
