The Kalininskaya NPP: results of the experiment showed a positive attitude of the inhabitants of Tver region to the nuclear power

The sociological research among residents of the Tver region on their attitude to the nuclear power in the region was made at the end of 2013 by an independent agency business research «Remarket».

The main objectives of the study were to evaluate the perception of the population of the region of the nuclear energy and nuclear industry, to determine the ratio of the nuclear industry, the identification of public opinion about the living conditions in the territory of the presence of Kalinin NPP.

The results showed a positive attitude in the region to the nuclear power, so 70% of the respondents among the inhabitants of the Tver region and 89% of city residents of Udomlya endorse the use of nuclear energy for electricity production. 75% of the Tver region believe that nuclear energy should be developed or maintained at the current level, and only 6% were in favor of the rejection of the nuclear power development.

Attention should be drawned to the fact that the majority of residents (83%) believe that the NPP in Udomlia has a positive impact on the life of the city. The Kalininskaya NPP itself as the representative of the nuclear energy in the Tver region, now has established itself with a high significance for socio-economic development of the region (64%).

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area.
