The Kalininskaya NPP power unit №2 was restarted after scheduled maintenance

On July 9 at 6 hours 55 minutes the Kaliniskaya nuclear power plant power unit №2 was connected to the grid after the planned medium repairs, which lasted about 75 days from April 26 this year.

During the repair of the power unit there was done a number of regulatory and modernization works in the framework of sectoral programs to extend the life of the Kalininskaya NPP power unit №2. Among the key operations there was a replacing of the turbogenerator-2 capacitor for a number of "A", pipe system IPA-1 (low-pressure heater-1), MCP cooling pumps (main circulation pump), modernization of control systems of technological system of the generator shaft seals parameters, measurement of gas concentration in technological systems, a survey of the RF equipment, SS  and ISS was carried out (reactor facility, security system and important safety system).

Activities were carried out by maintenance and engineering personnel and representatives of the station contractors.

There are all power units of the Kalininskaya NPP in work at the moment. The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.

Current information about a radiation situation near the nuclear power plant in Russia and other objects of the nuclear industry is provided on a site www.russianatom.ru.
