The environmental management system (EMS) at the Kalininskaya NPP meets the national standard requirements GOST R ISO 14001-2007 and ISO 14001: 2004. This conclusion was made by a group of experts on the results of the external inspection and recertification EMS audit, held at the station from 23 to 26 March.

The audit was conducted by an independent certification body control systems Ltd. SSA "DEKUES." Under the program, the expert group members visited 12 units of the NPP included in the EMS, reviewed existing documentation, conducted series of surveys among staff for basic knowledge of the entity's environmental policy and the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" and environmental aspects - elements of activities that have an impact on the environment during the production functioning.

At the final meeting, the leader of the auditors group Tatiana Rachkova commented audit materials, noting that the implemented plant meets almost all the EMS requirements. "Examination revealed inconsistencies, the certification body will be encouraged to issue a certificate of compliance with the environmental management system at the Kalininskaya NPP with requirements ISO 14001: 2004 and to extend the national standard GOST R ISO 14001-2007," - she said. Auditors appreciated production conducted at the station and technical and organizational measures aimed at reducing the probability of occurrence and development of emergencies, minimize their potential impact, improving the environmental safety of the enterprise, reducing the impact on the environment.

As a strong feature of the enterprise it was noted that the station personnel demonstrate a solid knowledge of the EMS documents understanding their role in the system, are highly skilled, have knowledge and commitment to achieve their goals. In addition, the Commission noted the work done by internal auditors and those responsible attitude for EMS divisions. Systematic approach to methodical, consulting, education, information activities in the field of ecology also received positive evaluations, it is the management of information and public relations together with the Department of Environmental Protection. "In this work, involving all sections of the population, it is very important that you do not stay within the boundaries of the city, trying to cover all the Tver region," - said Tatiana Rachkova.

The Kalininskaya NPP environmental management system has been implemented and consistently improved since 2011. At this point its division includes 41 stations. The EMS promotes the implementation of environmental measures and in some cases becomes its centre.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
