Kalinin NPP: there will be held All-NPP training on April 5

There will be held an All-NPP off-schedule emergency training at Kalinin NPP (Tver Region) on April 5, 2011 with participation of the fire brigade personnel. It is aimed at testing the activity of the personnel in the event the technical water supply is failed.


Similar trainings will take place within April, 2011 on all the operating NPPs of Russia (branches of “Rosenergoatom Concern” JSC) in order to practice the emergency services, NPP’s personnel and their heads.


There are three power units operational at Kalinin NPP now.


The radiation background in the area of the nuclear power plant location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values. 

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
