Kalinin NPP: Unit 3 Runs Routine Test

On October 16 Kalinin NPP Unit 3 was shut down for the testing of safety devices in accordance with the requirements of the national standards and regulations. The works are planned to be carried out within 6 days. 

At present, Kalinin NPP operates two power units – Unit 2 and 4. Unit 1 is under the scheduled heavy overhaul. The radiation background in the area of NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power units’ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having the installed capacity of 1,000 MW.
