On May 31 on the eve of the International Children’s Day, specialists of the Public Information Centre of Kalinin NPP organized a celebration for the pupils of Udomelskiy orphanage and Secondary School 1, studying under the program “Avavilable Environment”. The event named “Summer, Sun and Friends” took place within the long-term social project “Equal among Equals” of Kalinin NPP.

 The program of the children’s feast included an excursion in the creative summer residence of the famous artist V.K. Byalynitskiy-Biruli, situated on the lakeshore of the picturesque Lake Udomlya. Here children could visit the exhibition of paintings and photographs from the collection of Kalinin NPP “The House with its Windows towards the Heart”, an opening of which in March of the current year has become an official start to festive events, timed to the 20th anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Real surprises for the children were the national games and fun in the fresh air, which allowed them to touch the national traditions and customs. “Despite that the weather is gloomy, it’s sunny and warm in my soul,” shared her impressions about the trip a pupil of Udomelskiy orphanage, Zhenya Rosschupkina. “I knew a lot about the artists, which lived here and created. It’s wonderful that the nuclear power plant, located on the opposite shore of the lake, does not interfere with this beauty.”

Kalinin nuclear power plant for many years has been involved in the process of education and development of children from the children’s social and correctional institutions of Udomelskiy district. In 2009 there was worked out a long-term program of cooperation of Kalinin NPP with these institutions with a symbolic title “Equals among Equals”. Energetic and initiative representatives of the youth and veteran organizations of the nuclear power plant, specialists of PIC actively engage children in educational work and create conditions for their creative self-expression.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having the installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Implementation of the stage “Pilot Operation” continues its realization on the 4th power unit, which start-up took place in November 2011.
