Kalinin NPP Restarts Power Unit 4

On April 17, 2012 Kalinin 4 (Udomlya city of the Tver region) was restarted. It was stopped on 25 February for the scheduled overhaul of the equipment as well as for removal of a number of secondary technological equipment and systems.

Looking back, a stage of the first criticality of the unit 4 was started in October 2011, and its energy launch took place in last year November. Currently, the works on the power unit commissioning program are carried on.

At the present time Kalinin NPP operates four units. Their total capacity amounts to 3 586 MW.

The radiation background in the area of the nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power units’ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having a capacity of 1000 MW.
