Journalists from Egypt, Indonesia and Kyrgyzstan visited the Kalinin NPP

During the visit, guests were able to verify the safety, reliability and environmental friendliness of the nuclear power plant

Familiarity with reference nuclear technologies, scientific and technical potential and high production culture of the Rosatom State Corporation became the key topics of the visit of a group of foreign journalists to the Kalinin NPP (a branch of Rosenergoatom JSC). More than 20 media representatives from Egypt, Indonesia and Kyrgyzstan visited the nuclear power plant site. The press tour took place within the framework of the International Forum “Atomexpo-2024”.

During the visit, specialists from the Kalinin NPP gave guests a tour of power unit No. 4; journalists visited the turbine room and were able to observe the work of the operating personnel at the unit control center.

An important part of getting to know the nuclear power plant was a round table with the participation of the management of the Kalinin NPP. The conversation with nuclear scientists touched on most aspects of the enterprise’s activities, the main one being safety.

Answering questions about the reliability and security of the nuclear power plant, chief engineer of the Kalinin NPP Ruslan Alyev noted that safety priorities are the most important when creating and operating nuclear power facilities.

“The effectiveness of the application of safety culture principles is reflected in the performance indicators of the plant. For 40 years, the Kalinin NPP has been operating safely and reliably as part of the country’s Unified Energy System, having established itself as a reliable producer of environmentally friendly and safe energy,” said Ruslan Alyev.

According to the publishing editor of the information portal “Kaktus.media” Ksenia Timofeeva from Kyrgyzstan, she was most impressed by the scale of the nuclear power plant. Speaking about the development of nuclear energy in her country, she noted: “We are only in the process of discussing the possible construction of a low-power nuclear power plant. My task is to convey objective facts to people, so I came here to look at the operating nuclear power plant with my own eyes.”

For the journalist of the Egyptian publication Amwal Al Ghad, Mahmoud Shaaban Abdelsamiya Salim, the topic of nuclear energy is more relevant than ever - in his country, the Rosatom State Corporation is building the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant.

“I am very happy that I visited an operating nuclear power plant! I looked with pleasure at Russian nuclear technologies and how developed they are. I am confident that, thanks to cooperation with Rosatom, we will also receive the same advanced nuclear technologies, and in the future my country will be able to achieve the same level of nuclear energy. I really liked it in Russia, I really hope to come here again next year,” said Mahmoud Shaaban Abdelsamiya Salim.

To talk about the safety of the nuclear power plant and its benefits for the country is the main correspondent of the Indonesian news agency ANTARA, Yashinta Difa Pramudyani, who considers this task: “In Indonesia they are still weighing the pros and cons of nuclear energy. After the excursion to the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, I think I will be able to better talk about nuclear technology to ordinary people. Now is the time to use nuclear energy. And I can convey this in my reports.”

In addition to visiting the Kalinin NPP, foreign journalists took a sightseeing tour of the satellite town of the nuclear power plant Udomlya (Tver region), and also visited the Public Information Center, where the exhibition “Kalinin NPP. What it is?".

Despite sanctions pressure, Russia continues to strengthen cooperation with friendly states and enter into new international contracts, restructuring its export supplies. To enter new markets and develop existing trade relations, the creation and development of infrastructure and transport corridors, including the Northern Sea Route, continues. An equally important role is played by the expansion of settlements in national currencies and the use of alternative currencies in trade in general.

For reference:
