Atomenergoremont will supply the first batch of industrial refrigeration systems for the Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh)

Modular refrigeration machines in container design are intended for the preparation of cold water and organizing its supply to the industrial circuit system of the turbine hall building of the Rooppur NPP. The operating mode of the units is periodic; when the water temperature in the pipeline reaches above 32.5 degrees Celsius, their operation ensures normal operation of the main and auxiliary equipment of the steam turbine unit.

Optimal design solutions for containerized industrial refrigeration systems have been developed for the equipment. The main features of this decision were climatic and geographical characteristics. Thus, the maximum cooling capacity of one planned unit is 6000 kW. One block of this kind would be enough to support almost 700 hockey rinks.

Equipment delivery will begin at the end of December 2023. According to forecasts, transportation of refrigeration machines will take about two months. Currently, modular refrigeration machines are being prepared for transportation to the port of St. Petersburg for further shipment to the Republic of Bangladesh.

“Our company continues to increase international cooperation and since April 2023, a branch of Atomenergoremont JSC has been established in the Republic of Bangladesh. Refrigerators are our first large supply to Rooppur as part of station equipment maintenance. It is crucial that the project is completely manufactured based on domestic design solutions and meets all technical requirements of the customer,” shared Vladimir Popov, Deputy General Director for Business Development of Atomenergoremont JSC.

JSC Atomenergoremont is the leading specialized repair organization in the Russian nuclear energy industry, a general contractor for the maintenance and repair of equipment at nuclear power plants and other industrial and energy enterprises. Atomenergoremont JSC carries out more than 70% of repair work at the NPP sites of Rosenergoatom. Rooppur NPP is a nuclear power plant under construction in the Republic of Bangladesh (general designer and general contractor - Engineering Division of the State Corporation Rosatom). The selected site for the construction of the station is located on the eastern bank of the Padma River, 160 km from the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka. The Rooppur NPP is being designed and built according to a Russian project, which includes the construction and commissioning of two power units with PWR-1200 type reactors with an electrical capacity of 1200 MW each, the life cycle of which is 60 years, with the possibility of extension for another 20 years.

Russia is actively developing cooperation with friendly states. The implementation of large joint energy projects continues. Rosatom and its divisions take an active part in this work.
