Specialists of the Beloyarsk NPP presented a unique power unit BN-800 at the international exhibition CIENPI 2023
At the XV China International Nuclear Energy Exhibition CIENPI 2023, specialists from the Beloyarsk NPP held a virtual technical tour of power unit No. 4 with the most powerful fast neutron reactor in the world - BN-800. The exposition was visited by Chairman of the PRC Atomic Energy Agency Zhang Kejian, Deputy Director General of the IAEA Liu Hua, Secretary General of the China Atomic Association Zhang Thinke, as well as other key representatives of the world nuclear industry.
The guests of the technical exhibition made a tour of the Beloyarsk NPP, created using 3D space scanning technology, which gives the feeling of being in the premises of power unit No. 4 and immersing in the production process.
The participants visited the engine and reactor rooms, saw how the operators of the block control center control the operation of all systems of the power unit and how they are constantly trained in the training center.
Besides, thanks to the use of computer graphics, the specialists were able to familiarize the foreign guests of the stand with the principle of operation of the fast neutron reactor and tell in more detail about the capabilities of the reactor to reuse nuclear materials and burn out long-lived elements extracted from spent fuel from other nuclear power plants. This possibility makes nuclear energy practically inexhaustible.
“Today, the Beloyarsk NPP has the greatest competencies both in the sphere of fast neutron reactors and in the sphere of MOX fuel. The experience of the nuclear power plant proves the safety, environmental friendliness and efficiency of technologies,” said Ivan Sidorov, director of the Beloyarsk NPP.
Moreover, at the stand of Rosatom, visitors using an augmented reality application could see with their own eyes how a nuclear power plant with VVER-1200 reactors is arranged, which will be installed at power units No. 7 and No. 8 of the Tianwan NPP, as well as No. 3 and No. 4 of the Xudapu NPP – joint projects of Russia and China, which are at the moment being implemented in China. In total, more than 200 large companies and research institutes from China also participated in the exhibition, including CNNC, CGN, SPIC, etc.
Today, Russia, despite the sanctions pressure, continues to strengthen cooperation with friendly states and conclude new international contracts, restructuring its export supplies to trade with the countries of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
