Rosenergoatom (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation) has won the Overall Equipment Effectiveness Award 2023 (OEE Award). The award ceremony took place on April 13, 2023 as part of the VII annual practical industrial conference "Overall Equipment Effectiveness 4.0".

The project “Smart video analytics: monitoring compliance with safety and industrial safety requirements using computer vision and artificial intelligence” took 1st place in the special nomination “Industrial safety and labor protection”.

The system is designed to analyze the video stream from surveillance cameras in production facilities where compliance with safety and industrial safety requirements is required. With the help of an artificial neural network, the process of detecting violations of the rules for the use of personal protective equipment in industrial premises where operating electrical installations are located is fully automated. The system allows detecting and registering up to 95-98% of violations.

At the moment the system is successfully operating at the Kola NPP and is being replicated at all Russian nuclear power plants. The system is included in the Register of Russian Software.

“Among the key objectives of the project were not only reducing the number of HSE violations, improving labor discipline, changing employee behavior, but also optimizing HSE costs, reducing losses due to injuries, repairs and equipment downtime. The results of the pilot implementation at the Kola NPP demonstrated that we successfully coped with these tasks. It is very valuable for me and our entire team that our experience was highly appreciated by the professional community,” commented Victor Tsaranu, head of the project office for the implementation of digital solutions in the operation of nuclear power plants of Rosenergoatom.

“We do not stand still and continue to develop the functionality of the system. Now the system has been additionally taught to recognize the initial signs of fire and smoke, detect abandoned objects, and also determine the identity of the intruder using Face ID. The flexibility and adaptability of our solution allows us to provide high accuracy of incident detection at all objects of circulation,” said Oleg Shalnov, director of the department for IT Project Management and Integration of Rosenergoatom.

The OEE Award was established in 2018 by Zyfra Group. The purpose of the award is to identify and present to the professional community the best practices of digitalization of enterprises that are changing the face of a modern factory, helping to reduce costs and increase profits through IT.
